User and Channel Modes

On IRC4Fun, we provide you with the ability to set or unset certain User Modes as well as Channel Modes.

User Modes:

To set a user mode, type: /MODE MyNickname +<modes>
To unset a user mode, type: /MODE MyNickname -<modes>

a (Server Administrator - Settable by IRC Operators dependend upon server configuration) - Designates the user as a Server Administrator.
B (Bot) - Marks user as a Bot (robot)
d (Deaf to Channel messages) - Makes you blind to any messages to all channels that you are in.
D (Deaf to Private Messages) - Makes you unable to see any messages sent to you privately.
H (Undercover IRC Operator) - Hides that you are an IRC Operator and makes you appear to others as an ordinary user. (requires configuration in IRC Operator configs)
i (Invisible) - Hides the user from /who and /names when triggered by a user not on the same channel.
k (Service) - Cannot kill, kick, deop or ban. (Only servers can set this mode - it is NOT available to users or IRC Operators)
L (No channel links) - Prevents the user from being redirected into a linked channel(s).
n (Hide Channels) - Hides channel list from non-opers in /whois.
o (IRC Operator) - Grants IRC Operator privileges to the user.
O (Local IRC Operator) - Grants IRC Operator privileges to the user on the local server only and does not allow for network wide commands.

q (Common Channels Only) - Can only be private messaged from users in common channels.
r (Registered) - Marks the user as registered and logged in.
R (Registered Only) - Can only be private messaged from registered (logged in) users.
s (Server Notice Mask) - Sets the specified snomask on the user.
W (Whois Notice) - Tells the user who/when someone performs a /whois request on him/her.
x (Hidden Host) - Hides your hostname and IP with Username.users.IRC4Fun.net and provides an IP of 127.0.0.1
z (SSL Connection) - Marks the user as connected using SSL connection.

Lines (or Modes) in RED are restricted to IRC4Fun Staff / IRC Operators.

Channel Modes:

To set a channel mode, type: /MODE #ChannelName +<modes> [options]
To unset a channel mode, type: /MODE #ChannelName -<modes> [options]

a (Server Administrators Only) - Allows only Server Administrators to join the channel.
b <nick!user@host> (Channel Ban) - Sets a ban on the channel of the specified nick!user@host mask (wildcards permitted) .
c (No Colors) - Forbid the use of colours on the channel.
C (No CTCPs) - Block all CTCP's sent to the channel.
D (Delayed Joins) - Hide all join events on the channel until the user speaks or has a mode set.
d (Was Delayed Joins) - Replaces +D when disabled if there are hidden users yet to join the channel.
i (Invite Only) - Users must be /INVITE'd to join the channel.
k <key/passphrase> (Channel Key) - Sets a passphraze on the channel, required for users to join.
l <number> (Channel Limit) - Set the limit of users permitted to join the channel.
L <#ChannelToRedirectTo> (Channel Link/Redirect) - Marks the channel as being redirected to the specified destination.
m (Moderated) - Only voiced (+v) users or Channel Operators can speak in the channel.
M (Registered Moderation) - Only registered and logged in users may speak in the channel, unless voiced.
n (No External Messages) - Forbids users from outside the channel from sending messages to it.
N (No Channel Notices) - Denies sending notices to the channel.
o <nickname> (Channel Operator) - Sets +o on the user granting them channel operator abilities
O (IRC Operator Only) - Allows only IRC Operators and Server Administrators to join the channel.
p (Private Channel) - Marks a channel as private.
Q (Hide QUIT/PART messages) - Hide all quit and part messages.
r (Registered Only) - Only registered and logged in users may join the channel.
R (Channel Registered) - Marks the channel as registered (can only be set by X)
s (Secret Channel) - Marks a channel as secret and excludes it from /list.
S (Strip Codes) - Remove all colours and effects on all messages within the channel.
t (Only Channel Operators can set the TOPIC) - Forbids normal channel users from changing the channel's topic.
T (No Mulit-Target Messages) - Block all multi channel messages (such as /amsg in mIRC)
v <nickname> (Channel Voice) - Sets +v on the user granting channel voice abilities.
z (Persistant Channel) - Resyncs channel upon bursting (end of netsplits)
