Question Why does it keep disconnecting me, saying I'm G-Lined?
Answer

Why do I keep getting disconnected and told that I am "G-Lined"?

  • G-Lined: AK#199823: Some reason (or possibly none)  -OR-  G-Lined: [1] Some reason (or possibly none) cases
If you are trying to connect to IRC4Fun and are getting a "Disconnected: G-Lined (You've been bad - for abuse)" then it means that you, your username, or parts (or all) of your Internet Service Provider have been banned from the IRC4Fun network due to abuse and lack of cooperation from the Internet Service Provider have resulted in a ISP-Block. (An ISP-Block is highly unusual; and usually not the case.)  A reason is not required, though usually provided.  You can contact us with your nickname, IRC Client username, AK# (if provided), Reason (Listed in G-Line message), X Username (if applicable), and how you intend to avoid abusing policies in the future.
(Note: IRC4Fun Staff are not required to remove G-lines; but in some cases we may attempt to work with the user.)

If you have not been violating IRC4Fun's Rules (Acceptable Use Policies) or Services Guidelines, then the ban may have been placed against a different user who was assigned your IP address at the time.  If you have been violating various policies and were then banned, then it should not be a surprise.

In any event; you can either wait for the G-Line to expire, or you can contact us with your nickname, IRC Client username, AK# (if provided), Reason (Listed in G-Line message), X Username (if applicable), and how you intend to avoid abusing policies in the future.  (Note: IRC4Fun Staff are not required to remove G-lines; but in some cases we may attempt to work with the user.)
  • G-Lined: AK#199827: Banned (DNS Blacklist) cases
This type of G-Line indicates that your hostname or IP address were matched in one or more DNS Blacklists, used by many IRC networks.  You will need to request removal from the indicated DNS Blacklist before you will be able to connect.  You can visit rbls.org to see if you are listed in one or more DNS Blacklists, and why.

Unfortunately, you will have to take the issue up with the DNS Blacklists that have you listed - IRC4Fun has no ability to do this for you.  In every case, right before you are disconnected with the G-Line message, you are sent a NOTICE from EUworld indicating which DNS Blacklist you were listed in.  If you do not take whatever action is necessary to remove yourself from the DNS Blacklist: the G-Line will be re-applied each time you try to connect.  (In select cases, we may attempt to work with you and setup exemptions; depending on the situation and the reason you are listed in the DNS Blacklist)  In general, it is important to understand that IRC4Fun as well as most IRC networks utilize these DNS Blacklist services to prevent abuse and enhance the overall network experience.  (Nobody likes floodbots or spambots!)
