IP Reputation Scores

IRC4Fun has implemented IP Reputation features aimed at helping combat abuse at both the network and channel level.

The reputation score shows how long a user (IP address) has been "known" to IRC4Fun.

How Reputation works

  • Every 5 minutes, the reputation module increases the score for all connected IPs by +1. Authenticated users receive +2 total.
  • Low reputation records expire: scores under 7 expire after 7 days; scores under 12 expire after 30 days.
  • Maximum score: 10,000
  • IP Reputation scores are visible via /WHOIS nickname (the IP is NOT)

New Extban: +y:score

Channels can use the extban +y:score to protect against abuse:

  • /mode #channel +b y:2 — Ban users with scores less than 2 from joining
  • /mode #channel +b m:y:2 — Mute users with score under 2 but allow joining
  • /mode #channel +b u:y:2 — Users with score under 2 have messages only seen by @ops

Extban +y supports > and < indicators:

  • /mode #channel +b y:<10 — Ban users with score under 10
  • /mode #channel +b y:>10 — Ban users with score over 10
