OperServ's DEFCON & Levels Information
IRC4Fun's Services have a network protection feature to combat wide-spread and heavy attacks. This feature (DEFCON) is seldom used, as staff can usually handle abuse with more appropriate means.
| Level | Resulting Measures |
|---|---|
| 5 | Normal — No restrictions or enhanced security measures. |
| 4 | Escalating — No Nickname Registrations or Memos may be sent. |
| 3 | Defensive — No Channel/Nickname Registrations or Memos. Channels set to +MR (Only identified users may talk or join). |
| 2 | Urgent — Services silently ignore all non-IRC operators. No registrations or memos. Channels set to +MR. |
| 1 | Lockdown — Connecting users are AKILLed for 5 minutes. Services ignore non-operators. No registrations or memos. Channels set to +MR. |
Important Notes
- Channel modes set by OperServ will be unset when DEFCON returns to level 5
- DEFCON should always be used as a last resort
- If you enable DEFCON, you are responsible for monitoring and adjusting levels. Do NOT set a level and walk away.
- DEFCON AKILLs from Level 1 expire after 5 minutes
- DEFCON deactivates automatically after 15 minutes if not adjusted
