We will begin rolling out our network upgrade to InspIRCd v4, tonight. In an effort to make the noise as minimal as possible, we’ll also be installing server updates & restarts at the same time. This means that users will experience a disconnection (if they are on an affected server). In cases where clients are using specific servers instead of irc.IRC4Fun.net or an IRC Round Robin; users may be unable to reconnect for several minutes. Clients using the IRC Round Robin addresses will be automatically reconnected to an available server.
What to Expect:
- Server Restarts (Will cause momentary disconnections from the IRC Server)
- Netsplits (As a server goes down, the network becomes split until the server rejoins)
- Services Split (As a hub server goes down, the network becomes split until the hub and it’s servers rejoin)
- Netjoins (As a split hub or server rejoins, the state of the network is resync’d)
We will carry out the upgrades on one server at a time to prevent mass outages and the whole process should take less than 4 hours. We appreciate your patience while we work to bring you the best IRC experience! If you need any assistance during or after the upgrades; please feel free to /JOIN #Help
or /JOIN #IRC4Fun
