We are excited to announce a major upgrade to the IRC4Fun network infrastructure! Over the past few weeks, our team has been working hard behind the scenes to improve performance, reliability, and the overall experience for all our users.
What has changed
New Server Nodes — We have deployed additional servers in key geographic locations to reduce latency and improve connection stability for users worldwide. Whether you are connecting from Europe, North America, or Asia, you should notice faster response times.
TLS Everywhere — All server-to-server links now use TLS 1.3 encryption by default. Your conversations and data are more secure than ever. We strongly encourage all users to connect using TLS on port 6697.
Updated IRCd — Our InspIRCd instances have been updated to the latest stable release, bringing improved performance, better resource management, and several bug fixes. The new version also adds support for modern IRCv3 capabilities.
WebChat Improvements — Our KiwiIRC-based web chat has received a fresh coat of paint along with better mobile support and dark mode integration.
Services Upgrade — Anope services have been updated with new modules and improved NickServ, ChanServ, and BotServ functionality. Channel registration is now faster and more intuitive.
We are committed to providing the best IRC experience possible. If you have any questions or run into any issues, feel free to join #help or reach out to our staff in #irc4fun.
Stay connected!
