Types of *-Lines (Bans)

If you cannot connect to IRC4Fun, you may have been affected by one of the following types of bans:

A-Lines (DNS Blacklists)

A-Lines are automated bans based on DNS Blacklists (DNSBL). These are applied automatically when your IP address is found on one or more DNS Blacklists. This is common for users on VPNs, proxies, or compromised hosts.

Resolution: If you believe this is a false positive, you can open a Support Ticket.

K-Lines (Server Bans)

K-Lines are bans set by a Server Administrator that only affect a single server. If you are K-Lined from one server, you may still be able to connect to another IRC4Fun server.

G-Lines (Network Bans)

G-Lines are network-wide bans. There are three sub-types:

  • G-Line (Standard) — A network-wide ban set by IRC4Fun staff. These are typically set for abuse, flooding, or policy violations.
  • G-Line (SpamTrap) — An automated G-Line set by IRC4Fun's spam protection systems.
  • G-Line (Temporary) — A short-duration G-Line, often set automatically during DEFCON situations.

GA-Lines (Global Access Lines)

GA-Lines are similar to A-Lines but are applied network-wide rather than per-server.

Z-Lines (IP Bans)

Z-Lines ban an IP address or range from the entire network. There are three sub-types:

  • Z-Line (Standard) — A network-wide IP ban set by IRC4Fun staff.
  • Z-Line (TOR) — Applied to TOR exit nodes that do not authenticate with SASL.
  • Z-Line (Automated) — Set automatically by network protection systems.

TOR Users

TOR connections require SSL (port +6697) and SASL authentication. Without SASL, TOR connections will be Z-Lined.

Appealing a Ban

If you believe you have been banned in error, you can:

Please include your nickname, IP address (if known), and the ban message you received.
