How Can We Help?
I cannot connect.. *-lined
I cannot connect, it says I am *-lined. What happened?
A-Lines
IRC4Fun Staff (Server Administrators & IRC Operators) may add an A-Line in order to limit abuse on individual servers. A-Lines are local bans from specific servers — which can be bypassed by identifying to Services via SASL, and can be temporary (or Permanent) depending on the duration given by the staff member who placed it. If you wish to contest a A-Line, you should contact the server administrator listed in /ADMIN
via their @ IRC4Fun.net email address with your IP/hostname. (Server Administrators and IRC Operators are under no obligation to remove a A-Line, you are still able to connect using SASL.)
K-Lines
Server Administrators (and their IRC Operators) may add a K-Line at their own discretion. K-Lines are bans from individual IRC4Fun servers and can be temporary (or Permanent) depending on the duration given by the administrator or operator who placed it. You can type /ADMIN servername.IRC4Fun.net
to see who to contact in such a case or open a Support Ticket.
G-Lines
IRC4Fun Staff (Server Administrators & IRC Operators) may add a G-Line in order to enforce compliance with IRC4Fun network policies. G-Lines are global bans from all IRC4Fun servers and services, and can be temporary (or Permanent) depending on the duration given by the staff member who placed it. If you wish to contest a G-Line, you should open a Support Ticket or contact Help @ IRC4Fun.net with the G-line message and your IP/hostname.
G-Lined: You’ve found yourself a disappearing act. (ID: ________)
- This message indicates that you, or your IP address are banned (globally) from IRC4Fun due to joining a SpamTrap channel. This type of automated G-line will expire in 3 days.
G-Lined: Spam is off-topic on IRC4Fun (ID: ________)
- This message indicates that you, or your IP address are banned (globally) from IRC4Fun due to:
- Posting messages in rapid succession
- Posting messages containing known spam
- This type of automated G-line will expire in 2 weeks. This type of ban is not typically removed upon appeal.
GA-Lines
IRC4Fun Staff (Server Administrators & IRC Operators) may add a GA-Line in order to limit abuse on the IRC4Fun network or individual servers. GA-Lines are global bans from all IRC4Fun servers and services — which can be bypassed by identifying to Services via SASL, and can be temporary (or Permanent) depending on the duration given by the staff member who placed it. If you wish to contest a GA-Line, you should open a Support Ticket or contact Help @ IRC4Fun.net
with your IP/hostname. (IRC4Fun Staff and the individual Server Administrator are under no obligation to remove a GA-Line, you are still able to connect using SASL.)
Z-Lines
IRC4Fun Staff (Server Administrators & IRC Operators) may add a Z-Line in order to enforce compliance with IRC4Fun network policies. Z-Lines are global IP bans from all IRC4Fun servers and services, and can be temporary (or Permanent) depending on the duration given by the staff member who placed it. If you wish to contest a Z-Line, you should open a Support Ticket or contact Help @ IRC4Fun.net with the Z-line message and your IP.
Z-Lined: You’ve found yourself a disappearing act. (ID: ________)
- This message indicates that you, or your IP address are banned (globally) from IRC4Fun due to joining a SpamTrap channel. This type of automated G-line will expire in 3 days.
Z-Lined: You’re listed in the _____. Please see ____ for more information.
- In order to prevent abuse (such as: flooding, mass advertising and spamming), IRC4Fun checks connecting users against DroneBL and EFnetRBL. (Most IRC networks also check connecting users against these [and other] blacklist services to prevent abuse, and have done so since the early 2000’s.)
- Users connecting from IP addresses listed in either abuse prevention service will be automatically Z-lined (banned from the network) for 1 day.
TOR Users must identify using SASL to connect. See https://irc4fun.net/r/tor for more information.
- Please see our TOR Users document for information on how to setup your IRC Client to connect to IRC4Fun using SASL Authentication.
