Bots on IRC4Fun

On IRC4Fun, users and the network itself can use "nice" bots — in compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and run on servers which allow bots. Check each server's /MOTD to see their bot policy.

Bots which are not considered "nice" (DoS/Botnet/Flood/Spam/Mass-messaging bots) are not allowed on any IRC4Fun server.

Types of Bots

  • Regular Bots — Bots run by users or channels for their own purposes.
  • Stats Bots — OPT-IN bots that collect stats for IRC search engine indexes.
  • IRC4Fun Bots:
    • Helper Bots — Provide useful functions for users and channel operators (e.g., dropbear, sentinel)
    • Utility Bots — Protect the network from spam and abuse (e.g., Countess, ozone)
    • Service Bots — Official IRC Services (ChanServ, NickServ, MemoServ, BotServ, GroupServ, HostServ, HelpServ, OperServ)
